SUMMARY: The part-time Wine Educator role will include every aspect of tasting room hospitality service. This role is responsible for passionate brand representation, and customer service support. Additionally, the wine educator role is responsible for delivering to tasting room guests a gracious, knowledgeable, and enjoyable hospitality experience while promoting wine sales in a low-key fashion with a focus at all times on exceptional customer service. This role also includes occasional support with facilitating guest appointments and arrivals in a professional, courteous, warm, welcoming, and efficient manner to ensure a positive first impression of Brown Estate’s hospitality, excellent service, and high standards. Above all, each Brown Estate employee must act with passion, humility, and gratitude to deliver a welcoming, enjoyable and inclusive guest experience.
WINE EDUCATOR RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, as well as other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned.
- Acquire, demonstrate, and maintain thorough knowledge of Brown Estate history and wines
- Commitment to and consistent demonstration of Brown Estate’s mission, vision, and core values
- Deliver customer service in a welcoming, inclusive, and knowledgeable way to all guests
- Stay current with Brown Estate direct shipping states
- Learn and operate e-commerce, POS, reservations, and CRM systems as well as any new systems that become relevant in the course of employment
- Stay apprised of all daily tasting room visits and expected pickup traffic through reservations system and manager daily lineups
- As directed, prepare and conduct tastings, including pouring wine and plating cheeseboards, in accordance with Brown Downtown service standards
- Process orders, including new wine club membership entries, changes of account information/status, and documenting/facilitating member special requests
- Understand and comply with all PCI protocols and procedures
- Be a passionate brand ambassador
- Assist with light hospitality support to include occasional tidying/preparation (helping to dry/buff glasses, wiping off and clearing tables, setting up for the next tasting)
- Assist with bussing stems, water glasses, and serving plates
- Help keep kitchen area clean and tidy at all times
- Assist with Brown Downtown reception desk when assigned
- Greet guests upon arrival and kindly usher them to their seats
- Answer phones as needed
- Assist with scheduling Brown Downtown appointments/reservations as needed
- Perform opening + closing duties as assigned by leadership
- Assist with order packing as needed
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
- Prior wine/hospitality industry experience
- Ability to connect personally and professionally with Brown Estate’s mission, vision, and core values
- Sense of urgency surrounding customer service, both in-person and via emails, phone calls
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
- Exceptional organizational and record-keeping skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

- MUST be available to work weekends: Fri - Sun
