Job description

CMA | Adolescent Behavioral Health
On Site | Boca Raton, FL | Part-Time | Mon-Fri, 3pm-8pm | $18-$22/hr
This role requires an active, accredited Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential. Applications without a current CMA credential will not be considered.
About the RoleThis is a rare opportunity for a credentialed CMA to step directly into a behavioral health environment and build experience on both sides of the clinical picture. By day you are practicing your craft -- vitals, blood draws, point-of-care screenings -- under NP supervision inside an active adolescent PHP/IOP program. The rest of your shift, you are embedded in the program itself: monitoring behavior, supporting group sessions, maintaining a safe and structured therapeutic environment, and being a consistent, trusted presence for teens at a critical point in their lives. If you are a CMA who wants real behavioral health exposure -- not just a medical office routine -- this is where you build that resume.
Backgrounds that translate well:Certified Medical Assisting โ€ข Youth Behavioral Health โ€ข Adolescent Healthcare โ€ข Education โ€ข Community Services โ€ข PHP/IOP Programs
What You'll Do
  • Perform vitals, blood draws, and point-of-care screenings under NP standing orders
  • Monitor client behavior throughout the program day; identify and respond to escalation using trauma-informed protocols
  • Support group sessions by maintaining structure, engagement, and therapeutic boundaries alongside the clinical team
  • Supervise adolescent clients ages 13--17 during transitions, breaks, and unstructured time
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and therapeutic facility environment
  • Greet and assist families at drop-off and pick-up with professionalism and warmth
  • Complete accurate, same-day documentation including wellness checks, medical records, and incident reports in Kipu
  • Escalate safety concerns, medical findings, and behavioral flags to the clinical and nursing team immediately and appropriately

What We're Looking For
  • Active, accredited CMA credential -- required; must be current and verifiable
  • Experience working with adolescents in a clinical, school, camp, or community setting -- strongly preferred
  • Behavioral health or mental health program exposure strongly preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to de-escalate, hold structure, and regulate without power struggles
  • Strong documentation skills; EMR experience a plus (we use Kipu)
  • Emotionally steady, professional, and consistent -- especially in high-acuity moments
  • Understands the boundaries of both the WC and CMA roles -- escalates appropriately, never makes independent clinical decisions

AWA is an adolescent mental health organization operating PHP and IOP programs across South Florida. We exist to serve teens and families at their most critical moments -- and this role puts you at the center of that work every single day.
