Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Travel CNA to join the Float Pool team at Mercy Hospital Springfield. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of CNA experience in an acute care hospital and be comfortable floating to different units based on patient care needs.

The CNA will work under the supervision of the nursing team to provide safe, compassionate, and quality patient care. Responsibilities include assisting patients with activities of daily living, monitoring and reporting changes in patient condition, supporting patient mobility and safety, and collaborating with RNs and other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility.
  • Obtain and document vital signs and report abnormal findings or changes in patient condition to the RN.
  • Assist with patient transfers, repositioning, ambulation, and fall prevention.
  • Maintain patient safety, comfort, dignity, and confidentiality.
  • Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer activities as assigned.
  • Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests for assistance.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized patient care areas.
  • Collaborate effectively with RNs and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Float to different hospital units based on staffing and patient care needs.

Requirements

  • Current CNA License meeting Missouri state requirements or eligibility for Missouri licensure.
  • BLS or CPR certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) only.
  • Minimum 1 year of recent CNA experience in an acute care hospital.
  • Previous float pool experience is a plus.
  • Must be flexible and comfortable floating to different units as needed.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and patient care skills.
