Part-Time Weekend Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Home Sweet Home Residential Care is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and experienced Weekend Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team at our Taylor Street Group Home in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
This position provides direct care and support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities while promoting independence, community inclusion, personal choice, and a high quality of life. The Weekend DSP plays an important role in ensuring individuals receive person-centered services in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
This is a part-time weekend position working Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Additional weekday and holiday hours may be available for team members interested in picking up extra shifts.
Essential Responsibilities

Resident Care & Support

  •  Provide direct support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. 
  •  Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication reminders, and household tasks. 
  •  Support individuals in achieving their Individual Support Plan (ISP) goals. 
  •  Promote independence, dignity, choice, and self-determination. 
  •  Encourage healthy routines, positive social interactions, and meaningful daily activities. 
Community Integration

  •  Transport and accompany individuals to community activities, shopping, appointments, and recreational outings. 
  •  Encourage participation in community events based on each individual's interests and goals. 
  •  Support individuals in building relationships and increasing community involvement. 
  •  Promote inclusive experiences that enhance quality of life. 
Documentation & Compliance

  •  Complete accurate, timely, and person-centered daily documentation. 
  •  Document progress toward ISP goals and outcomes. 
  •  Report incidents, behavioral changes, health concerns, and safety issues according to agency policy. 
  •  Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and agency standards. 
  •  Follow all documentation requirements and electronic record systems. 
Health, Safety & Risk Management

  •  Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all individuals receiving services. 
  •  Follow medication administration and observation procedures as trained. 
  •  Maintain a clean, safe, and organized home environment. 
  •  Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow crisis intervention procedures. 
  •  Adhere to all agency policies, Human Rights regulations, and DBHDS requirements. 
Minimum Qualifications

Required

  •  High School Diploma or GED 
  •  Minimum of one (1) year of experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (preferred; related caregiving experience will be considered) 
  •  Valid Driver's License 
  •  Acceptable Driving Record 
  •  Ability to pass all required background checks and screenings 
  •  Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  •  Ability to safely assist individuals with daily activities and community outings 
Preferred

  •  DSP Certification 
  •  CPR/First Aid Certification 
  •  Experience with: 
    •  Group Home Services 
    •  Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
