Operations Coordinator

Parttime/weekend

Roanoke, VA

This part time/weekend position for Operations Coordinator serves as the primary contact for drivers and customers during their scheduled shift. Primary areas of responsibility include:

  • Ensure change orders are entered appropriately with all information complete and accurate.
  • Serve as first line of contact for driver, customer, and manager questions relating to the movement of freight during the assigned shift
  • Ensure Drivers have everything needed to run safely and legally within State and Federal requirements.

Reporting Structure

The Operations Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Operations. This person is also expected to interface with other management, dispatchers and other leaders of the different business divisions.

Essential Functions & Major Accountabilities

  • Builds Truck Orders (TO's) and works with Dispatchers to move and monitor loads, andanswer questions as required.
  • Assists broker with Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) Scheduling and Tracking Shipments.
  • Leads scanning/imaging process for delivery receipts.
  • Communicates directly with customers to answer service related questions.
  • Ensures all necessary permits are known, granted, and accessible; follows through eachprocess for complete accuracy and awareness for all involved.
  • Assisting Dispatch with all administrative backup; learn key elements of Dispatch
  • Learn basic dispatching functions to fill in for dispatcher's when they are scheduled off duty.
  • Learn Dispatching system (TMW) to help manage customer loads and coordinate these loads with drivers.
  • Awareness of on-time orders; back-haul percentages; overall effectiveness of Driver efficiency and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Learn backhaul functions by interfacing with the DAT board.
  • Assist with Comdata advances for drivers.
  • Work with weekend on call fleet manager for planning of loads.
  • Send QUALCOMM information to drivers for outbound trips.
  • Sort inbound bills and place in folders for outbound driver delivery.
  • Routine yard checks and monitoring of security cameras.
