Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Maintain the cleanliness of kitchens.
• Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated items according to O.S.H.A. regulations.
• Maintain inventory of supplies needed to perform duties assigned to the stewarding department. Keep all equipment and supplies well organized.
• Operate and maintain dish machines, glass machines, floor scrubbers and burnishing machines.
• Clean floors, mats and drains for sanitary reasons using mops, brooms, scrapers, scrubbers and chemicals.
• Remove dirty dishes from cooks' line (or disassembly areas) and take them to dish room for cleaning and re-stock cooks line with clean dishes.
• Report on all maintenance issues. Inform supervisors if equipment is found to be faulty or broken.
• Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
• Knowledgeable and proficient in all Stewards equipment, chemicals, & techniques.
• Knowledge of OSHA and safety standards.
• Ability of simple reading, writing, and task completion skills is required.
• Must have the following skills: precision working, following instructions, influencing others, memorization, independent judgment, and decision making.
• Flexible working all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate.
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 1 year of janitorial kitchen/restaurant experience or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• While performing the duties of this job, the team member is occasionally sitting and constantly standing, walking, reaching overhead, bending over, crouching, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and balancing during the duration of their shift.
• Must be able to constantly lift/carry and push/pull up to 50lbs or less.
• The team member will have constant repetitive use of both feet and both hands. Team member will have constant light and firm/strong grasping motions. Finger dexterity of both hands will be constantly required.
• Constant use of vision abilities is required including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision.
• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Work performed indoors and outdoors, alone and frequently with and around others. Team Member will perform work face-to-face including verbal contact with others on extended shifts around mechanical devices.
• Team member may have to work in confined areas, extreme heat, extreme cold, wet and/or humid conditions as well as around dirt/dust, moving objects, high places, and slippery surfaces.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be loud at times and possible exposure to vibrations.
• Team Member may be exposed to fumes/odor and/or secondhand smoke.
