Kids Stuff Staff | Andover YMCA | $16.50/hour | M-F daytime & Weekend
At a Glance:
The YMCA Kids Stuff Childcare Program is hiring energetic and reliable part-time staff for our drop-in Workout Childcare locations. Hours vary by site based on program needs. Team members enjoy a free YMCA of the North membership and discounts on YMCA programs.
Schedule:
weekdays 8:30 - 2:00
Saturday 8-1
Sunday 9-1 and 4-7
  • Requirements:
  • Must be available weekends, both Saturdays and Sundays.
    Monday - Friday availability 8am-2pm preferably.

Pay:
The salary for this position starts at $16.50 hourly. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package for full-time includes a wide range of benefits (medical, dental, life, disability, and more) as well as generous paid time off and free membership. Part-time benefits will vary.
1. Job Summary:The Kids Stuff Staff is responsible for providing quality care to children in a positive, nurturing environment while their parents are using the YMCA facilities. The Kids Stuff Area could include children between the ages of 6 weeks and 10 years of age.
2. Job Responsibilities:
  • Greet children and members.
  • Follow correct sign-in and out practices
  • Supervise, play, and initiate games and activities with children.
  • Maintain a safe play environment.
  • Communicate courteously with members.
  • Follow daily sanitizing procedures and help out with weekly cleaning schedules.
  • Attend all staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Ensure that toys and shelves are organized at the end of the day/shift.
  • Follow all procedures and policies of the department, branch, and Association.

3. Relationships:This position reports to the Program Director and take work direction from the Kids Stuff Lead. The incumbent interacts regularly with children and parents.
4. Qualifications:
Required
  • Minimum age of 16
  • Experience leading and supervising children
  • Ability to motivate, energize, and entertain children
  • Knowledge of appropriate activities for various age levels - including skill and ability to implement curriculum
  • Strong organizational and child supervision skills

5. Work Conditions:
  • Ability to lead and participate in physical activities that may include but are not limited to walking, standing for long periods of time, bending, reaching, running, throwing, kicking and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to recognize and react calmly and effectively in hazardous/dangerous situations.
  • May be exposed to verbal outbursts, physical actions or bodily fluids as part of the environment.
  • Work environments range from quiet work areas to busy, noisy indoor and outdoor spaces with several groups talking amongst themselves concurrently.
