Job description

Job Summary: A Waste Technician is responsible for supporting waste management operations and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and internal procedures. This individual will serve as a liaison between the client, transportation providers, and disposal facilities, while also performing field based waste characterization and compliance tasks.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the client's waste lead regarding waste transportation scheduling and coordination.
  • Conduct waste sampling efforts in accordance with applicable safety and environmental standards.
  • Log waste shipment data in Evergreen tracking solutions, ensuring records are complete and up-to-date.
  • Communicate and coordinate with disposal facilities regarding waste profiles, acceptance, manifesting, and transportation logistics.
  • Periodically audit waste bins, accumulation areas, and disposal locations to verify proper labeling, storage, and segregation.
  • Assist with documentation related to regulatory compliance, waste profiling, and manifesting.
  • Identify and report non-compliance issues or discrepancies related to waste handling and storage.
  • Support waste program improvements and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Participate in training and safety meetings related to hazardous materials and waste handling procedures.

Pay Rate: $21.30/hour
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Capable of working in outdoor and industrial environments as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for maintaining accurate records.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal teams, clients, and vendors.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor's degree in environmental science, Chemistry, or a related field preferred.
  • Valid driver's license

Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds. Willingness and ability to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor and industrial settings. Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, respirators, and coveralls, as required. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or into waste bins for inspection or sampling purposes.
