Job description

This intermittent position is located in the Transportation Section of the Engineering Service within the Hudson Valley Healthcare System and will be required to work at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Hospital in Montrose, NY and the Castle Point VA Medical Center in Wappingers Falls, NY. This is an intermittent position that works irregular hours including weekends and evenings, based on the needs of the medical center.Qualifications:PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: Light physical effort is required in reaching, bending, turning, or moving arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls or motor vehicles. Physical effort is exerted In operating, turning, backing, and controlling heavier vehicles. Work requires standing on hard surfaces for extended periods of time; bending, stooping and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May lift and carry Items that weight up to 50 pounds or more. Heavier Items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from others. Forklift operation requires moderate physical effort in operating hands and feet. Vehicles are operated in all types of traffic and weather conditions on public roads and there is exposure to the danger of serious accidents. The employee drives in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated roads and interchange systems.
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualifications. For this position, the job element method is used to match what you, the applicant, can do against what the work calls for. Your knowledge, skills and abilities will be compared to the knowledge, skills and abilities (called job elements) needed for success. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element (WG-2 and higher only; screen-outs are not applicable to WG-1). Applicants who appear to meet the screen out element are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated from consideration. The potential eligibles are rated against the remainder of the job elements. While a specific length of training and experience is not required, your responses to the questionnaire must be supported by detailed descriptions of your experience on your resume.
