Job Title: House Manager & Meal Prep Support

Location: Roanoke, VA 24018

Employment Type: Part-time (15-20 hours/week, guaranteed 15 hours per week)

Schedule:

  • 4 days/week (Monday - Thursday)
  • Flexible hours, 4 hours/day between 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Compensation: $2530/hour, based on experience

About Our Family

We're a busy, loving family who truly values the time we spend together. With both parents working in the medical field, our days can sometimes feel quite busy and demanding. Our home is our haven, and we're looking for someone who can help bring more organization, rhythm, and support to our day-to-day routine. A key part of this role will be ownership of all laundry, tidying up, and kitchen management, including ensuring the kitchen is always ready for meal prep and kept clean. In addition, we're looking for someone who can provide ready-to-cook meal prep, making sure all ingredients are prepped and ready for us to cook fresh dinners efficiently.

Our blended family includes a 5-year-old, two older kids (ages 10 & 14) who are with us part-time, and a college-aged niece who is a cherished part of our family. We're seeking someone who feels like a natural fitsomeone we can count on to keep everything running smoothly, from laundry and meal prep to managing household tasks. Our goal is to spend less time on logistics and more time enjoying each other's company, and we're excited to find a partner who can help us achieve just that.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Household Management & Organization
    • Create and maintain household organization systems
    • Daily resets and prep home for cleaners
    • Light tidying (dishes, surfaces, vacuum high-traffic areas)
    • Help keep the family organized for extracurricular activities (e.g., preparing swim bag, T-ball bag, snacks, etc.)
    • Toy management (tidying, organization, toy rotation)
    • Seasonal swaps (clothing, dcor, bedding)
    • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs
    • Maintain inventory for trips and unpacking after travel
    • Change batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, etc.
  • Meal Prep Support
    • Prep ingredients for 4 dinners per week (grains, vegetables, dressings, sauces)
    • Meal prep support that brings dinner to a ready-to-cook state
      • Produce washed, peeled, and chopped into uniform, bite-sized pieces
      • Canned or packaged items set out
      • Fresh finishing/topping ingredients prepared (e.g., herbs, lime sliced)
      • Staple components made when helpful (e.g., grains)
      • Remaining ingredients set out on the counter (e.g., sauces)
    • Batch lunch salads for the week
    • Smoothie prep (portion dry and frozen ingredients in bags)
    • Prep snacks and lunch components for 2 adults and 1 child
    • Follow dietary needs/preferences (vegetarian)
    • Assist with reviewing grocery lists from Virtual Assistant, noting inventory and low-stock items; placing the final grocery order, as needed
    • Picking up groceries and putting them away in an organized way
    • Organizing ingredients by recipe and labeling containers
    • Maintain fridge organization and ensure ease of access for cooking
    • Kitchen reset (counters clean, scraps discarded, dishwasher loaded)

    • Wash, fold, and organize family laundry
    • Linen rotation
    • Ironing/steaming and special garment care, as needed

    • Refresh mudroom/drop zones/gym/entry
