Part-Time Preschool Paraprofessional for 2026-2027
This position will be a para professional for preschool T/TH 9:00am-3:00pm, and and ECFE paraprofessional TH evenings 5:00-7:30pm. This position follows the preschool and ECFE school calendars. This position will require the person to work 5 family events per year. Salary range $17.78 - $25.50 per hour, negotiable based on relevant experience.
JOB SUMMARY: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced or outlined by certified staff. • Assists the certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on an understanding of individual student needs. • Monitors student work as assigned by certified staff. • Alerts the certified staff to any problem or special information about an individual student. • Performs assigned supervision of students during lunch periods, recess, and on field trips. • Performs assigned non-instructional classroom duties, such as feeding, toileting, and clothing routines. • When requested, serve as a resource person to the Response to Intervention Team, the Individual Education Plan team, and other educational teams. • Performs clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional duties as assigned by the certified staff. • Will transport identified students with proper licensure in school vehicles. QUALIFICATIONS: Specific training or job experience required before appointment: High school diploma, two years or more of college or a passing score on the PRAXIS PARAPRO assessment. (preferably additional post-secondary training in areas relevant to adolescents or young adults). Ability to work effectively with special needs students and staff. Good language, math and reading skills. Computer skills. Adaptability for directed and independent work. Estimated length of time required for new entrant to achieve acceptable level of proficiency: 6 months.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: No unusual or extraordinary physical requirements.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: This position reports directly to the Building Principal and works in various capacities with administrative, service and support staff.
WORKING CONDITIONS: No unusual or extraordinary working conditions.
TERMS/CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is considered at will and non-exempt. Must complete program orientation involving training on program philosophy and goals, personnel policies, procedures for illness and emergencies, mandated reporting requirements, and program procedures.
