Part Time Trader information

What is a part time trader?

A Part Time Trader buys and sells financial instruments, such as stocks, forex, or commodities, on a part-time basis. They typically trade for personal income or as a side activity while managing other professional or personal commitments. Part-time traders use technical and fundamental analysis to make informed decisions and manage their risk through strategies like stop-loss orders. Success in this role requires market knowledge, discipline, and a well-structured trading plan. Many part-time traders leverage online trading platforms and tools to execute trades efficiently.

What are some common challenges faced by part time traders, and how can they be overcome?

Part Time Traders often face challenges such as limited time during core market hours, staying updated with market news, and managing trades alongside other commitments. To overcome these, many traders utilize advanced trading tools, set clear trading plans, and use automated alerts to monitor markets efficiently. Staying disciplined with risk management and continually updating your trading knowledge are also key to navigating market volatility. Being part of online trading communities or mentorship groups can provide valuable support, insights, and networking opportunities. Adapting to these challenges helps part time traders maintain consistent performance and achieve their trading goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time trader, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Part Time Trader, you need strong analytical abilities, a good understanding of financial markets, and basic knowledge of trading strategies, typically enhanced by relevant coursework or experience. Familiarity with trading platforms such as MetaTrader or Thinkorswim, and possibly certifications like FINRA Series 7 (for some roles), is important for effective execution of trades. Strong decision-making, time management, and emotional discipline help individuals stand out in managing market fluctuations and limited working hours. These skills ensure sound judgment, minimize risk, and support timely trading actions in a dynamic market environment.

Job description

About Skilled US
At Skilled US, we believe in transforming lives through education and workforce readiness. We operate a full-service, brick-and-mortar adult education campus that blends rigorous instruction, career training, and holistic wraparound support. We are a bold, entrepreneurial, and student-first organization driven by our core values: Students First, Respect, Determination, Continuous Improvement, and Gratitude. We move fast, set the bar high, and work relentlessly to meet the evolving needs of our learners and the labor market.
Job Summary:
The Construction Instructor (Civil + Commercial) (Part-Time) is more than an educator; this role is a mentor, industry leader, and career coach for students exploring careers in the construction trades. This position supports both civil construction (infrastructure and site development) and commercial construction (residential/Commercial building) to prepare students for real-world job readiness across multiple high-demand pathways.
This is a hands-on instructional role, where students learn by doing in a real-world construction environment. The instructor will integrate essential employability skills into training, ensuring students develop the technical expertise, work ethic, and professional habits necessary for success.
This role supports students in building critical career skills, including attendance, teamwork, leadership, communication, accountability, and jobsite safety, while helping them earn industry-recognized credentials aligned to employment and apprenticeship pathways.
Hours:
Skilled US will be hiring a part-time instructor to support training delivery across multiple schedules. Instructors will support one of the following blocks based on availability and program need:
Monday-Friday: 1:00 PM-5:00 PM, or 4:00 PM-9:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development & Instruction
  • Develop and implement a construction training curriculum (such as NCCER or WorkINRoads) aligned with Indiana State Department of Education standards and workforce credential requirements.
  • Provide hands-on instruction in both civil construction and Commercial construction, including core safety and technical competencies.
  • Deliver instruction that includes real-world applications in:
    • Civil Construction (Infrastructure & Site Work): grading, layout, utility location, trenching, rigging, concrete, basic equipment operation, and roadway/site prep fundamentals
    • Commercial Construction (Residential & Commercial Building): framing, basic carpentry, blueprint reading, materials handling, jobsite workflow, and construction math fundamentals
  • Supervise and support students in a lab/shop environment and at construction sites, maintaining safety standards and ensuring proper tool use.
  • Deliver and track student certification records to support industry-recognized credential attainment.
  • Maintain and upgrade necessary licensure through continuing education.
  • Represent Skilled US Adult Education and YouthBuild programming with professionalism and consistency.
Work-Based Learning & Employer Engagement
  • Establish and maintain relationships with area employers in civil and commercial construction.
  • Support and oversee student work-based learning opportunities, ensuring real jobsite exposure and readiness.
  • Collaborate with industry partners, unions, and community organizations to strengthen student career access.
  • Support program alignment with apprenticeship and employment pathways, including employer expectations for entry-level hires.
Program Development & Compliance
  • Maintain student records, including attendance, assessments, skills progress, and credential tracking.
  • Assist with the continuous improvement of construction programming to ensure training remains employer-aligned and outcomes-driven.
  • Collaborate with Adult Education staff to integrate technical training with academic instruction where applicable.
  • Support management of program resources, including tools, consumables, safety equipment, and jobsite materials.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines for workforce training programs.
Student & Community Engagement
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians (when applicable), employers, and school administrators.
  • Support students in making informed career decisions and understanding trade pathways (employment, apprenticeship, postsecondary).
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and leadership development for students entering the trades.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the administration.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
  • Ability to obtain a Valid Indiana Workplace Specialist License, or eligibility based on 3-5 years of construction industry experience (Skilled US will assist in getting one if not current).
  • Strong working knowledge of construction fundamentals across both civil and commercial environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and supervise students in hands-on training settings.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to build trust with students and support career decision-making.
  • Ability to develop and maintain employer relationships.
  • Verifiable industry work experience outside of education.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications used for instruction and student documentation.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development.
Preferred
  • Experience teaching or training in NCCER-based, WorkINRoads, and OSHA programming.
  • CDL license (or ability to obtain one). Skilled US will pay for this.
  • Experience in vocational education, YouthBuild, or workforce training environments.
  • Knowledge of CSA, WIOA Title I & II, YouthBuild, and workforce training compliance expectations.
  • Familiarity with compliance tracking systems and workforce development platforms.
Internal & External Collaboration
  • Industry & Vendor Partnerships: Support relationships with vendors and industry partners to ensure training aligns with Skilled US needs for curriculum, equipment, and workforce readiness.
  • Community Engagement: Coordinate with workforce agencies, unions, and business partners to strengthen program outcomes and student opportunity pipelines.
Quality & Process Improvement
  • Support best practices for compliance tracking, credential documentation, and reporting.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen student completion, placement, and retention outcomes.
Why This Role is Critical
The Construction Instructor (Civil +Commercial) is a life-changing role-one that doesn't just teach skills, but builds futures. Many students entering this program may have never seen construction as a stable, high-opportunity career pathway. With the right instruction, mentorship, and real-world training experiences, students can graduate prepared to enter the workforce, pursue an apprenticeship, and build long-term economic mobility.
This role helps students gain confidence, work ethic, and technical competence while preparing them for real job-site expectations-so they don't just start a job, they stay employed and grow.
Our Core Values:
  • Student First: Ensure all interactions prioritize students' needs.
  • Respect: Treat others with dignity and fairness.
  • Determination: Approach challenges with hard work and resilience.
  • Continuous Improvement: Strive for growth and better outcomes every day.
  • Gratitude: Demonstrate appreciation for the opportunity to serve our students and community.
