Job description

The Park Maintenance Assistant is responsible for providing assistance to the overall care and maintenance of all Hempfield Township Parks & Recreation parks and facilities, including Hempfield Township Park, Hempfield Township Athletic Complex, and any neighborhood playground. This position is a part-time position within the department of Hempfield Township Parks & Recreation.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the cleanliness and orderliness of park grounds (lawns, shrubs, trees, landscaping, and vegetation), park facilities (pavilions, restrooms, courts, offices) and Athletic Complex.
  2. Assist in maintaining athletic activity areas (dragging, nail dragging, prepping), maintain fences, benches, drinking fountains, sidewalks, restrooms and general repairs.
  3. Cleans and removes litter from parks, parking lot, and other public areas.
  4. Operates and/or drives a variety of light and heavy equipment as directed.
  5. Prepares pavilions and fields for rentals and events.
  6. Provide support and/or supervision for other Parks & Recreation or Township events, such as Santa in The Park, special events, etc.
  7. Provide other services and perform other tasks as requested or assigned by the Director of Parks & Recreation, Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation, and/or Township Manager.
