Description:

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Full-Time Associate Engineer to support our Nuclear Engineering Tooling and Design team. This role is ideal for recent graduates or professionals seeking design and hands-on experience in the dynamic nuclear engineering industry. You will assist in the design, development, and improvement of tools, fixtures, and manufacturing processes to enhance production efficiency and product quality. The position reports to the Manager of Engineering & Tooling.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist in all aspects of the design process (e.g., create design concepts, develop or review drawings, estimate costs and timelines, establish appropriate test requirements/specifications, fabricate tooling, and perform factory acceptance testing).
  • Utilize CAD software (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Vault) for designing tooling and maintaining organized records of project files.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and experienced technicians to develop and test prototypes.
  • Participate in tooling design reviews and recommend design improvements (e.g., ease of manufacturability, longevity/reliability, cost).
  • Conduct basic engineering calculations and tolerance analyses.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of engineering tooling design and/or manufacturing processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to travel when required (up to 15%) to Hi Tech Solutions facilities and/or customer locations.
  • Ability to obtain unescorted access authorization to nuclear power plants by completing all phases of in processing.

Education and Experience:

  • Completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in mechanical design.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or simulation tools.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and engineering drawing standards.
  • Familiarity of industrial lifting and rigging standards.
  • Familiarity of the nuclear refueling process.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing or design environment.

Work Schedule & Physical Requirements:

  • Position is remote/hybrid that requires frequent on-site work at our Greensburg, PA Location.
  • Position requires reliable high speed internet access and ability to have an in-home work environment free of distractions.
  • Flexible part-time hours (20 hours per week), with potential for increased hours during project peaks.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
