Part-Time Corrections OfficerJob Description

Location: Davison County Jail, Mitchell, SD

Position Type: Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Job Summary: Davison County is currently seeking a Part-Time Corrections Officer to join our team at the Davison County Jail in Mitchell, SD. The Part-Time Corrections Officer will be responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the inmates and staff at the facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and monitor inmates in the facility
  • Enforce rules and regulations within the jail
  • Conduct headcounts and inspections of inmates and their living areas
  • Respond to emergencies and incidents within the facility
  • Escort inmates to court appearances and other appointments
  • Assist with the intake and release process of inmates
  • Complete necessary paperwork and reports as required
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure the smooth operation of the facility
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations
  • Previous experience in corrections or law enforcement is preferred
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects
