Position Summary

Elementary, Secondary or Special Education
Position Summary:
The College of Education & Human Sciences Field Services Center is seeking Part-Time University Supervisors to supervise
student teachers (STs) in the Elementary, Secondary or Special Education teacher licensure programs. The primary responsibilities of the supervisor are to complete observations and assessments of STs utilizing an online tool, mentor assigned STs, support the cooperating teachers (CT), and serve as the point of contact for any questions, challenges, or other issues connected to assigned placements. Supervisors are to establish a strong university connection with the CT, communicate the expectations of the program to CTs and STs, and provide the CT with assistance and support in the completion of observation and evaluation forms.

Specific work expectations include:
*Complete all required observations for each assigned student teacher.
*Work with the CT to develop shared expectations between the CT and the university.
*Collaborate with the CT in providing feedback to the ST and model, when necessary, ways to give
feedback to ST that supports ST learning.
*Act as the ST supervisor and address any issues or challenges as they arise. Observe and communicate with STs in the field.
*Consult with the appropriate COEHS Program Coordinators, Faculty and Instructors and review ST academic work in order to
inform the work with the CT.
*Support the CT in learning and using the assessment systems of the program and College.
*Collaborate with the CT to conduct observations and evaluations.
*Follow suggested timelines for the purpose of each visit and meeting.
*Log each visit to or communication with the CT or ST into an online database. Input observations and evaluations into the required College of Education and Human Sciences database, SLL by required deadline.
*Communicate regularly with Program Coordinators, faculty and Field Services Center staff and attend all required
meetings and training.
*Submit necessary forms and information, e.g. mileage reimbursements, per UNM Business Policies
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
For the Elementary or Secondary Education Position:
*Applicant must have at least 5 years of combined teaching and/or administrative experience in an Elementary or Secondary Education public school settings.
*Applicant must have a Master's Degree in education or closely related field.
For the Special Education Position:
*Applicant must have at least 5 years teaching experience in schools teaching in K-8 or special education settings.
*Applicant must have a Master's Degree in any field.
Preferred Qualifications for the Elementary or Secondary Position:
*Have at least 7 years combined teaching and/or administrative experience in an Elementary or Secondary public school settings.
*Have a master's degree in education or closely related field.
*Bilingual ED/ESL Certified
*Have experience working as a supervisor of pre-student and student teachers.
*Have experience working with adults and knowledge of adult learners.
*Be technologically proficient and have evidence of experience utilizing database
systems. At a minimum, be able to use tablets and laptops as well as Microsoft Word and Excel, attach documents to emails, and navigate online data systems.
*Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with
broadly diverse communities.
Preferred Qualifications for the Special Education Position:
*Have at least 6 years teaching experience in both K-8 and Special Education settings.
*Have experience mentoring and/or supervising student teachers.
*Have experience teaching coursework with the UNM COEHS Special Education/Elementary Education Dual License Program
*Have experience working with adults and knowledge of adult learners.
*Be technologically proficient.At a minimum, be able to use Microsoft Word and Excel, attach documents to emails, and navigate online data management tools.
*Be able to collaborate effectively.
