South Elementary currently has an opening for a Lunch & Playground Supervisor. The goal of this position is to maintain a positive environment through safe and efficient supervision of school activities in the lunchroom and on the playground.
The ideal candidate will:
  • Supervise students and maintain order in the lunchroom, on the playground and in the halls/corridors
  • Assist in guiding students in development of desirable and acceptable social skills and habits
  • Assist in general welfare and safety of students
  • Report accidents and hazardous conditions immediately
  • Resolve problems that might arise
  • Inform teacher and/or principal of any serious problems
  • Maintain the school rules and be consistent with discipline
  • Encourage healthy attitudes and good bus/playground/lunchroom standards
  • Consistently encourage following rules and organization of games to help establish habits of fair play in order to enjoy wholesome recreation activities
  • Periodically inspect the safety of equipment on the playground and report safety concerns
  • Respond immediately to safety complaints made by students
  • Send students to the nurse on matters that require immediate medical attention
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Report to building principal

Requirements include:
  • Education: GED or high school diploma preferred
  • Experience and desire to work with children
  • Friendly and shows patience with children
  • Positive leadership skills
  • Maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude while on the job
  • Ability to work efficiently with staff, students and community
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to follow oral and written directions
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, neatness, integrity and punctuality
  • Ability to respect confidential matters
  • Physical: Ability to lift 40 pounds to waist height occasionally
  • Physical: Good agility and mobility with physical stamina to move about hard and soft play areas and ability to move quickly to students who are posing a risk to themselves or others

Hourly Rate: $15 - part-time
