Description

The Falls Church Anglican is seeking a part-time Sunday School Coordinator whose responsibility will be to lead elementary children on Sunday morning The Sunday School Coordinator will also recruit and equip adults to minister to children for the K-5 Elementary Sunday School program and encourage the parents as their child's primary faith teachers. They will collaborate with the Children & Family Ministries Team and church staff to support the departmental and church-wide goals. 


Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Minister to elementary-aged children and their parents through the Sunday morning program. 
  • Oversee the Sunday morning program with creativity and joy and in accordance with TFCA policies and procedures to maintain safety protocols and diocesan policy. 
  • Cultivate an environment attuned to children from diverse backgrounds and with special needs. 
  • Collaborate on stewardship of resources and budget.
  • Graciously handle disciplinary issues or interactions of children with their parents.

Educational

  • Coordinate Biblical curriculum and all teaching materials to be used by the elementary Sunday School ministry, including topics taught in large group worship weekly.

Team Building

  • Determine needs of servant leaders and recruit, train, supervise and recognize our volunteer leaders.
  • Build relationships with ministry participants to encourage spiritual growth and deepen connection to Christ and the church. 
  • Lead Sunday morning prayer time with Sunday School team
  • Implement and manage scheduling platform (Planning Center)

Additional Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with CFM team to prepare Learning Center for Fall Sunday School programming
  • Coordinate with CFM team to prepare curriculum materials for Fall Sunday School programming (Gospel Project and New City Catechism)
  • Be responsible for sending a weekly Sunday School email newsletter to volunteers, with information about that week's Sunday School, including attached lesson plans and notes.
  • Review volunteer schedule weekly to insure coverage in accordance with TFCA Child Protectection Policy  
  • Prepare curriculum and materials for class leaders as requested
  • Be present on Sunday mornings to oversee Learning Center ensure safety, manage classroom activities, provide teacher support
  • Coordinate with Mission Sunday guest speaker to provide materials/support

Requirements

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with collaboration and a proven capacity to work well on a team 
  • 2 years of experience coordinating programs for children (church experience preferred) 
  • Relevant training and study in education or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred 
  • Ability to work on Sunday, some evenings and holidays, and other flexible working hours as required 
  • Intermediate level computer competency with Microsoft Office, video production, online platforms, and database experience preferred 
  • Satisfactory background-check prior to hiring Satisfactory background check and references.
