SUMMARY: Performs semi-skilled work assisting a stationary engineer in the operation, maintenance, and repair of stationary plant equipment providing heat, ventilation, power, refrigeration, or air conditioning Operates high pressure gas and oil boilers and performs minor maintenance and repair on same; monitors HVAC computer; monitors the emergency electrical generators. Maintains all logs and State records
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
โ€ข Monitors boiler fires, maintaining proper pressure, temperatures, water levels, etc., and assist in fuel changeover, as needed
โ€ข Performs minor repairs and preventive maintenance on boilers.
โ€ข Monitors and treats water for boiler feed and condensate systems.
โ€ข Services, Monitors and operates water softeners for the facility.
โ€ข Monitors and adjusts HVAC computers for building environmental conditioning.
โ€ข Monitors temperatures and humidity from HVAC computers for state requirements.
โ€ข Monitors the diesel driven electrical emergency generators.
โ€ข Responds to routine, urgent, and emergency service calls throughout the campus
โ€ข Advise supervisors of any urgent situations.
โ€ข Adheres to all policies and procedures of the organization and all federal and state laws regarding the privacy of protected health information.
โ€ข Monitor, adjust controls and document Centrifugal Chillers for campus cooling
โ€ข Treats water for the chilled water and heating loop systems.
โ€ข Performs preventive maintenance on laundry equipment.
โ€ข Operates, cleans, services, and makes minor adjustments and repairs to a variety of stationary plant equipment such as heat exchangers, softeners, pumps, compressors, fans, electric motors, and gasoline or diesel stationary engines.
โ€ข Assists in the operation, maintenance, and repair of high or low-pressure boilers or high temperature hot water boilers and auxiliary equipment.
โ€ข Makes routine inspection tours to check operation and condition of equipment such as brine circulating systems, reservoirs, pumps, temperature and pressure controls, and water and steam lines.
โ€ข Maintains routine service records.
โ€ข Service, maintain, and operate pumps, motors, boilers, cooling towers, refrigeration equipment, and other associated power plant equipment, as needed.
โ€ข Maintains plant facilities in a clean and orderly condition. Painting Equipment as is needed to increase life Expectancy.
โ€ข Maintain and carry phone linked to the emergency dialer for the powerhouse. Assist in responding to calls as needed.
โ€ข All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Some experience or knowledge of assisting in the operation and maintenance or repair of mechanical or electrical equipment used for providing heat, ventilation, power, refrigeration or air conditioning, or in the repair of electrical, gasoline, or diesel-powered equipment.
