The Department of Engineering and Mathematics at the University of Washington Bothell invites applications for a teaching faculty positions at the rank of Lecturer Part Time (multi-year), with an anticipated start date of December 16, 2026. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in teaching and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community.
The successful candidates will join our faculty on a part-time basis with a base load of 55.55%, with potential for up to 88.89% depending on curricular need, for a 9-month service period with opportunities to teach in the summer. The position has an expectation of teaching between five courses (with the potential to increase up to eight courses depending on need) in the three quarters of the regular academic year. Positions in this title are non-tenure track, non-voting, and non-promotable. Appointments in these positions may be for multiple years (1-5 years), with an anticipated initial appointment of one year. Reappointments are contingent upon instructional needs, performance, and funding.
The full-time (100%) base salary is $7,200-7,716 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This full-time monthly rate is then prorated based on assigned FTE for the duration of the 9-month academic year.
The Mathematics program is part of the Department of Engineering & Mathematics, which is housed in the School of STEM. In addition to Mathematics, the department has programs in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Engineering. The faculty of the Mathematics program is comprised of 16 full-time faculty members, 9 of whom are on the tenure track and 7 of whom are on the teaching track. The faculty have expertise in a broad range of areas, including applied mathematics, discrete geometry, geometry of polynomials, inverse problems, knot theory, mathematical modeling, mathematics education, medical imaging, nonnegative matrix theory, numerical optimization, technology use in K-16, and tiling theory.

Qualifications
Applicants for this teaching faculty position must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Education:

• Master's degree in mathematics or closely related field required by time of appointment.
