Your Opportunity
An opportunity exists for a highly motivated Structural Engineer in our New Haven or Hartford, CT offices. The successful candidate will become part of an exciting and dynamic structures team and will have opportunities to contribute to large projects throughout North America.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee design and preparation of contract documents for new bridges and rehabilitation of existing bridges
  • Perform load rating analysis of existing bridges
  • Perform design calculations, drawings, and details for various bridge design projects
  • Mentor and monitor junior structural engineers
  • Review shop drawings produced by fabricators and detailers, calculations performed by other engineers, coordinate with design team, site visits to address site issues and verify existing conditions, and respond to request for information
  • Assist with the management and administration of projects, including budget tracking, developing staffing requirements, coordinating quality reviews, and assuring compliance with Health, Safety, Security and Environment fundamentals
  • Coordinate with clients as required to assure projects are delivered on time and on budget

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Licensed Professional Engineer with license in the State of CT
  • Proficiency in STAAD, CSI, SAP, AASHTOWare BrR and other structural analysis and design software
  • Ability to develop drawings using AutoCAD and Open Bridge Modeler, including conformance to CTDOT Digital Design Environment
  • Understanding of design codes and agency standards such as AASHTO, ASCE, AISC and ACI..
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong leadership and team building skills, which are essential to meet the expectations of this challenging position

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or Equivalent, Graduate Degree highly desired.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the structural design and analysis of bridges and other transportation structures.
  • Professional Engineer in Connecticut required Position will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work depending on project needs.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
