Job description

Are you passionate about helping children, families, schools, and communities heal and grow stronger? Ohel is looking for a compassionate, experienced mental health professional to lead and expand our trauma response and resilience initiatives throughout South Florida. This is more than a clinical role, it's an opportunity to make a meaningful difference during life's most challenging moments while helping schools and communities build resilience for the future.

As a valued member of Ohel's National Trauma Team, you'll receive ongoing mentorship, supervision, and specialized training from nationally recognized trauma expert Dr. Norman Blumenthal, while working alongside a dedicated team committed to supporting individuals and communities in times of crisis.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate Ohel's trauma response services throughout South Florida in collaboration with Ohel's National Trauma Team

  • Respond to traumatic events affecting individuals, families, schools, synagogues, and community organizations

  • Recruit, mentor, supervise, and support members of the South Florida Trauma Team

  • Provide crisis intervention, death notification, pre-bereavement support, short-term counseling, and individual and family consultations

  • Partner with the Clinical Director of Ohel's South Florida outpatient mental health clinic to strengthen outreach, identify community needs, and expand access to behavioral health services

  • Build lasting relationships with schools, educators, healthcare providers, social service agencies, clergy, and community leaders

  • Deliver engaging workshops, webinars, and professional development for educators, administrators, clergy, and community organizations

  • Train and coach school personnel in trauma-informed practices, resilience-building, and social-emotional learning (SEL)

  • Help organizations respond to crises with compassion while promoting healing and preventing retraumatization

  • Represent Ohel through community presentations, outreach initiatives, educational events and social media

 Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, or a related mental health field

  • At least 5 years of clinical experience, including trauma, crisis intervention, or disaster response (experience on a trauma response team is preferred)

  • Strong understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, and social-emotional learning

  • Experience working in schools or educational settings

  • Excellent presentation, training, leadership, and public speaking skills

  • Experience recruiting, mentoring, and supervising teams is a plus

  • Comfortable using technology, multimedia, and social media for outreach and education

  • Calm, compassionate, flexible to provide steady support during times of crisis
