POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

TRUCK DRIVING ADJUNCT INSTRUCTOR (PART-TIME)

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Crump is accepting applications for the part-time position of Truck Driving Adjunct Instructor to be located at the Parsons Campus in Parsons, Tennessee.  This scheduled class time will be two nights a week (5 p.m. - 9 p.m.) and Saturdays 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidates must have high school diploma
  • Must hold a valid commercial driver's license in Tennessee
  • Minimum of five years' recent experience as over-the-road driver with exemplary record
  • Must possess good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to organize and provide theoretical and practical instructional activities to enable students to obtain CDL

GENERAL DUTIES: 

The adjunct truck driving instructor is responsible for teaching all phases of the program to include safety regulations; CDL regulations, traffic laws, road atlas and highway routes; instruments and cab controls; engine and air brake systems, adverse weather condition driving techniques; hazardous materials transportation; clutch, gear and transmission patterns; coupling and uncoupling trailers, obstacle course and backing procedures; defensive driving; and over-the-road driving experiences. The adjunct instructor will also assist with student placement and student follow-up; participate in recruitment of students; cooperate with outside agencies; work with the program advisory committee; conduct visits to related business and industry; and establish and maintain good public relations within the college's service area.  Other duties include assisting with curriculum development and updates, student record keeping, participation in professional development activities, and participation in student organizations

SALARY:  $32.00 per hour

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Use of computer
  • Normal standing, sitting, and walking
  • Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, stand and work, with or without accommodation, to demonstrate and perform all work-based projects. 
  • Operating a motor vehicle to travel within the college service area and in other areas as needed.
