Job Description
AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Inspector, Highway & Bridge to perform construction engineering and inspections on a variety of construction projects including railroads, bridges and highways in Connecticut. Come join our team on these exciting projects.
Responsibilities are included but not limited to:
  • Responsible for performing assignments in construction layout, making, and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.
  • Under minimal direction, relies on experience and independent judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Construction Project Manager.
  • Responsible for setting own project deadlines.
  • Provides on the job training to new employees.
  • Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties.
  • Performs daily field inspections and maintains inspection records.
  • Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning.
  • Tracks quality assurance progress.
  • Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma/GED and 10 years of related experience performing inspections on related bridge and/or roadway construction projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Qualifications
  • NICET certification Level 3 (or ability to obtain required level)
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a relevant field.
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules as needed for projects, including overnight work.
  • Experience working with Connecticut Dept. of Transportation (CTDOT)
