Deli/Seafood Associate  Part & Full-Time Opportunities  Dierbergs Markets

Deli/Seafood Associates work as a team to prepare quality products, assist customers, and provide excellent customer service.  They have a variety of responsibilities that play a part in running the Deli:  

  • Provide exceptional customer service that goes above and beyond 
  • Learn and promote our variety of deli and seafood products and use suggestive selling techniques 
  • Process customer orders accurately and efficiently 
  • Work in varied temperature-controlled environments (refrigerator, freezer and hot food preparation) 
  • Operate and clean equipment safely according to training procedures, by reading warnings, and following instruction manuals. i.e., knives, slicers, fryers, rotisseries, smoker, skewers, ovens, frying pans, hot case, microwave oven, r air oven, steamer, chicken warmer and case, hot food warmer, wrappers, cheese grater, and scales 
  • Prepare and cook products in a warm kitchen with temperature of oil and ovens up to 500 degrees 
  • Follow safe food handling guidelines whenever preparing food according to S.A.F.E. program standards  
  • Maintain appropriate temperatures and avoid cross-contamination throughout production and storage 
  • Prepare party tray orders, follow directions from food specification book or order form 
  • Weigh, wrap, and label products using digital and manual scales 
  • Cut meats and cheeses using electric slicers according to training manual and customer requests 
  • Fill serving bowls with ready-made deli salads, and place in deli counter case 
  • Rotate products and check expiration dates  
Essentials  
  • At least 16 years of age 
  • Ability to follow recipes, charts, invoices and temperature gauges 
  • Basic computer, math and measurement skills (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, conversions, and percentages) 
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule that includes weekends and holidays 
  • Prompt and regular attendance based on your schedule 
  • Adherence to our dress code, appearance and personal hygiene standards 
  • A Hepatitis A vaccination (MO locations only) 
  • May be cross-trained in other departments  
Physical Requirements  
  • Lifting & Carrying - Up to 30 lbs. occasionally, lift products up to 50 lbs. from floor to chest occasionally 
  • Pushing & Pulling - Up to 20 lbs. force occasionally 
  • Occasional - Sit, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, climb, overhead reach, and shovel 
  • Frequent - Head turn, trunk bend, side reach, grasp, power grip, pinch, finger manipulation, and feel 
  • Constant - Forward reach, standing, and handling
