Employment Type:Part timeShift:Rotating ShiftDescription:Responsible for the safe and accurate processing of laboratory specimens and reporting of results, maintaining laboratory equipment and performing quality control in the clinical laboratory. Also responsible for specifically designated lead tech responsibilities.

Trinity Health Shelby is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join our laboratory team. Qualified Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs) will also be considered based on experience, certification, and organizational policy.

Employment Type: Part Time

Shift: Rotating Shift

What you will do:

  • Receives specimens, clarifies test requests, checks specimen integrity/labeling.Organizes,preparesand processes specimens.
  • Works independently in assigned departments with the laboratory.Performs testing, evaluates results, solves problems, documentsresultsand communicates reports as needed.
  • Assistsin training and orientation of new employees and students.
  • Performs specimen collection duties.

Qualifications:

  • MLS (ASCP) certification or
  • MLT (ASCP) certification
  • Associates/Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry or Biology.
  • National Licensure as a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician - ASCP, AMT

Language Skills:

  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Additionally languages preferred.
