Receptionist Part-Time (Non-Exempt)
Rate: $12.00 starting hourly to $16.00 max hourly rate
Pay Grade: PT | Starting salary based on prior experience and education.
Location: Environmental Learning Center, Concord Twp., OH 44077
POSITION SUMMARY
Lake Metroparks is seeking a part-time Receptionist to provide professional front-desk, clerical, and administrative support for daily operations and visitor services at the Environmental Learning Center. Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager, this position greets visitors, assists callers, supports volunteers and staff, processes routine transactions and records, and helps maintain a welcoming, organized, and responsive office environment. This position works up to 28 hours per week and requires availability for weekdays, weekends, some evenings, and holidays as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate degree in business, marketing, travel and tourism, parks and recreation, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in an administrative, customer service, receptionist, or visitor services role preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the Agency’s policy.
  • Pre-employment background check required.
  • Must be able to work an irregular schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to operate Park District vehicles and remain insurable under the Park District’s liability policy.
Required Training: All Park District employees must complete and maintain mandatory training, which may include safety, fraud, ethics, sexual harassment, and additional job-specific training.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Environmental Learning Center Receptionist
  • Answers telephone calls, routes inquiries, takes accurate messages, and monitors voicemail.
  • Provides guidance and scheduling support for volunteers assisting with visitor services.
  • Prepares mailings and maintains appointment calendars.
  • Assists with booking and facilitating rentals.
  • Orders and maintains supplies.
  • Assists with special event preparation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

COMPUTER EXPERTISE REQUIRED / EQUIPMENT OPERATED

  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including telephone, copier, printer, and cash register or point-of-sale system.

The employee must be able to perform routine office tasks for extended periods, including computer and telephone work, and may occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull office supplies, files, program materials, or small boxes weighing up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed primarily in an office environment within a public-facing facility. The employee works at a reception desk or administrative workstation and regularly uses a computer, telephone, copier, printer, point-of-sale system, and other standard office equipment. The position involves frequent interaction with visitors, callers, volunteers, and staff and may require occasional movement throughout the facility to retrieve supplies, assist with administrative tasks, or support events. The noise level is generally low to moderate and may vary during busy visitor periods, programs, or special events.
POTENTIAL HAZARDS
Potential hazards are typical of an office setting and may include prolonged computer or telephone use, repetitive hand and wrist motions, eye strain, slips, trips, or falls, minor lifting or carrying of office supplies or files, contact with standard office equipment, and occasional exposure to cleaning products or moderate noise in public areas. Employees are expected to use safe work practices, maintain an orderly work area, follow applicable safety procedures, and promptly report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions.
