General Description
SUNY Niagara has a need for part time instructors to teach various business courses within the Business & STEM division.
The Business Instructor is responsible for teaching undergraduate-level courses in various business disciplines, which may include supply chain, management, advertising, finance, contracts, sales and marketing, human resources (HR), and organizational management. The instructor will prepare students for success in the dynamic business field by fostering a supportive learning environment, engaging students with diverse learning strategies, and maintaining high academic standards.
The Instructor will provide leadership, engagement, and discipline expertise. Demonstrate commitment to student success through teaching and learning excellence.
Remuneration for persons teaching at least 3 credits in a semester: $960 per lecture hour.
In order to build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates to meet our present and future needs for this position, SUNY Niagara will accept applications on a continuous basis. Openings may or may not exist at this time. Applications are evaluated on an as-needed basis, and candidates will be contacted when the department has an opening. Candidates who submit their information may or may not be notified as to the status of their application.

  • Teach course on campus or online.
  • Track attendance as needed.
  • Complete census reports.
  • Report on student learning outcomes at the end of the semester.
  • Report grades at the conclusion of the semester.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as necessary.

Essential Functions
Ability to work with, and teach a diverse student population. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare and present information. Must able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Management, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, or a closely related discipline.
  • One (1) year of full-time (or part time equivalent) teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
  • Strong knowledge of business principles, current industry practices, and practical application in one or more of the specified subject areas.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or DBA in Business, Management, or related discipline.
  • Teaching experience at a community college.
  • Experience using publisher-based educational technology (or OER) and learning management systems such as Brightspace.
