SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for leading and participatingin Connecting Realities programming. Leading and implementing instrumental andvocal music activities designed to meet residents' physical and psychologicalneeds, such as solo or group singing, rhythmic and creative music programming.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinates with Director of ConnectingRealities to implement and ensure the completion of Connecting Realities'Programming. i. Delegates tasks and provides direction to interdisciplinaryteam members on connecting realities programming.
2. Evaluates residents' functional status andassesses residents' response to music, music preference, music skills, andcultural factors relevant to care.
3. Develop, administer and coordinate musicactivities and programs in accordance with state and federal regulations.
4. Implement music activities that facilitatenon-musical goals (e.g. sensory stimulation, memory recall, positive failure,socialization).
5. Monitor and report on the condition of musicalinstruments to the Dir. of Connecting Realities
6. Work as part of the care plan team indetermining therapeutic objectives and goals and participate in meetings asneeded.
7. Keep accurate and thorough resident activityattendance records
8. Ensure compliance with all state and federalregulatory requirements
9. Assistance with training employees.
10. Additionalresponsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in music therapy, Board Certified MusicTherapist (current), Licensed Professional Music Therapist, 2+ years of musictherapy preferred. Knowledge of and ability to utilize a variety of musicalinstruments. Knowledge of hospice philosophy of care. Experience with geriatriccommunity.
