Job description

Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity working as a part-time RN in a school setting near Aurora, IL. This engaging role supports a high school male student as a 1:1 nurse. The student is a quadriplegic and utilizes a sip/puff wheelchair, tracheostomy, ventilator, and requires urinary catheterization. Your advanced clinical expertise and compassion will make an immediate impact.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois is required
  • Previous school nursing experience is essential
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in tracheostomy care, ventilator support, and urinary catheterization
  • Skilled in lifting and assisting with physical transfers if necessary
  • Critical care background is strongly preferred
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Must submit proof of licensure and up-to-date resume

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide attentive, individualized medical care for the student during school hours
  • Monitor and manage the student’s ventilation needs and tracheostomy
  • Administer urinary catheterizations as necessary
  • Support safe transitions and mobility throughout the school day
  • Collaborate with special education staff and the student’s caregivers for comprehensive care
  • Maintain accurate health records and clear documentation of care delivered
