If you're naturally great with kids and have a flexible schedule, BrightStar Care of Anchorage is hiring Babysitters / Childcare Support Specialists to provide in-home childcare support for local families.

This is primarily a backup childcare position. While some shifts are scheduled in advance, many requests come with 24–48 hours' notice. Because of this, hours are not guaranteed week-to-week, making this role an excellent fit for someone looking for flexible supplemental income.

For candidates seeking more consistent hours, BrightStar also offers the opportunity to cross-train as a Caregiver, providing access to additional shifts and scheduling opportunities.

Pay
    • $18–$21 per hour, depending on experience.

What You’ll Do

As a Babysitter / Childcare Support Specialist, you will provide attentive, reliable, and developmentally appropriate care for a child in their home. This role is about more than “watching kids” - it’s about creating a safe, supportive, and positive environment where a child can feel cared for, engaged, and secure.

Responsibilities may include:

    • Providing one-on-one childcare and supervision in the child’s home
    • Supporting the child’s daily routine, safety, play, and emotional well-being
    • Assisting with hygiene and personal care as directed, including dressing, toileting, grooming, bathing, oral care, and feeding
    • Preparing meals according to the child’s needs or diet
    • Helping with light housekeeping related to the child’s care, such as linen changes or tidying care areas
    • Engaging the child in games, outdoor activities, and fun, age-appropriate interaction
    • Supporting a safe environment by following BrightStar policies, procedures, and care standards
    • Reporting any changes in the child’s condition or needs to the Director of Nursing or appropriate BrightStar team member
    • Maintaining confidentiality and respecting the child’s and family’s rights
Who This Role Is Great for

Requirements
    • Current CPR certification

    • Legal authorization to work in the United States
    • Ability to stand, walk, squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, push, and pull
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
    • Possession and ability to use a smartphone
Preferred Qualifications
    • High school diploma or GED preferred
    • Minimum one year of childcare, babysitting, caregiving, nanny, CNA, paraprofessional, or related experience preferred
    • Experience working with children with medical, behavioral, developmental, or special needs preferred
    • Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance meeting company requirements preferred
