Description
TEMPORARY CUSTOMER SERVICE TECHNICIAN
Hours: Vary Monday through Thursday and flex between 7AM to 6PM

South Coast Water District has an opening for a Temporary Customer Service Technician to work up to 960 total hours per Fiscal Year.
The primary functions will be:
  • answering phone calls
  • inputting work orders into the CIS system
  • inputting payments into the CIS system
  • dispatching work orders to Field Customer Service
  • routing calls to the appropriate department - for example: Operations, Engineering & Water Conservation.

Job Functions:
  • Answer a high volume of calls re: billing and water or sewer questions.
  • Dispatch work orders to the Field Customer Service department via work orders, email and phone.
  • Receives telephone calls and directs the caller to the proper office, such as Water or Sewer Operations, Water Conservation or Permitting.
  • Receives service requests and transfer of water/sewer service work orders.
  • Input payments into the CIS Billing system.
  • Operates the computer CIS billing system to inquire on accounts, input work orders.
  • Receives customer payments in person at the front desk.

Qualifications:
  • Techniques for dealing effectively with the public, vendors, contractors and District staff, in person and over the telephone.
  • Effectively communicate in person over the phone or in writing.
  • Basic mathematics
  • Typing
  • Familiar with Office 365.

Ability to:
  • Deal with the public in person and over the phone.
  • Respond to and effectively prioritize multiple calls.
  • Use English effectively to communicate in person; over the telephone and in writing.

Requirements:
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in customer service, maintaining financial and accounting records, and office support.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience with computer systems and data entry, including at least one (1) year of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade is required.
