Job description

Chicago Community Learning Center (CCLC) is searching for a part-time and full-time instructor for our Basic Nursing Assistant (B.N.A.) program. The instructor will be responsible for teaching In-Person and hybrid classes. A Basic Nursing Assistant (B.N.A.) Instructor is responsible for course planning, instruction, and skills, teaching students the patient care and basic nursing skills needed to provide physical care and emotional support to patients. The B.N.A. Instructor prepares students for employment as nurse assistants and to take the state exam to receive certification. This is a 1099 independent contractor position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provides instruction through classroom theory/lecture, laboratory demonstration and skills practices, and supervised clinical sessions at a designated health care facility such as a nursing home or long-term care facility.
  • Provides students with course syllabus including course outline, grading standards, attendance policies, and classroom behavioral expectations.
  • Prepares lessons to teach and facilitate student learning to develop basic nursing and cardiopulmonary resuscitation skills using appropriate methods of instruction.
  • Maintains student attendance and grading records in compliance with CCLC policy and guidelines.
  • Constructs exams and assignments to evaluate student learning. Evaluate student progress and provide students with timely feedback.
  • Responsible for student evaluation and timely and accurate submission of grades and paperwork related to instruction.
  • Maintains a purposeful, orderly, safe, and healthy classroom environment.
  • Consult with the program administrator to resolve issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Nurse in Illinois (RN)
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) OR Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) with completion of State-Approved Train-the-Trainer and Evaluator Workshop
  • Experience teaching a nursing lab/clinical preferred but not required
  • Experience in teaching online and/or using course management programs preferred but not required.
  • Experience with traditional and non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds.
