Position and Salary The Attorney General's Office is recruiting for a permanent full time Paralegal 2 in the Regional Services Division

This position is located in Vancouver, Washington, and is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE). Paralegal 2 (Range 55) salary range: $62,880 - $84,528 (Effective 7/1/2026) The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the preferred candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The AGO is a place to belong and make a difference. About the Regional Services Division The Vancouver office is comprised of 19 attorneys and 16 professional staff. The office represents: Department of Children, Youth and Families in juvenile dependency litigation in Clark, Cowlitz and Skamania counties, as well as licensing of Foster Care and Child Care providers.

Department of Social and Health Services in the licensing of Adult Family Homes and Boarding Homes. The Department of Labor and Industries in Workers Compensation matters. Lower Columbia College, Clark College and Educational Service District 112.

The Washington State Center for Childhood Deafness and Hearing Loss, and Washington State School for the Blind. Legal Services Provided: The office provides representation to our clients through both litigation and client advice. Litigation includes hearings and trials in juvenile court and superior court and administrative hearings under the Administrative Procedures Act.

Client advice is provided to clients on a broad range of subjects, particularly in the representation of education clients. Attorneys are also responsible for handling cases appealed to the Court of Appeals and Washington Supreme Court. Duties and Essential Functions of a Paralegal 2 Supervisor Supervise, train, and coach legal support staff in the performance of all duties.

Assist in the responsibility for hiring, evaluating, and corrective action of designated staff. Assure appropriate and optimum use of the organization's resources and enhance the effectiveness of employees through timely appraisal and professional development opportunities. Using Microsoft Outlook and the case management system, continually maintain and update individual attorney calendars, noting important dates and deadlines related to cases.

Schedule meetings with clients, witnesses, and opposing counsel, as well as hearings, mediations and depositions; identifying and resolving scheduling conflicts that may occur. Review incoming mail and documents for assigned attorneys, checking to ensure dates are calculated correctly pursuant to court rules and AGO critical events calendaring policy. Independently engages in the continual management of case matters by reading, reviewing, and preparing orders, court dates, discovery requests, responses to discovery, and other pleadings/correspondence, monitoring of case status, keeping assigned attorney and litigation team members apprised of important and significant items requiring responses.

Combination of four years of experience* through: Paralegal certification Two-year paralegal degree Paralegal plus (or nine-month paralegal, post BA) certification, and/or Paraprofessional experience in support of an attorney OR One year experience as a Paralegal 1 in Washington State Service. *You may have gained applicable paraprofessional experience through previous Paralegal or Legal Assistant work. Examples of paraprofessional experience in support of an attorney: Preparing legal pleadings and legal correspondence Ensuring and verifying timely and proper service of legal documents Calculating, verifying, and calendaring critical events and other dates Managing case documents, files and exhibits Tracking and organizing discovery documents Researching legal issues and verifying legal citations and references for accuracy The most successful candidate will have: Prior supervisory experience Knowledge and use of the Case Management System; Law Manager and FileVine Familiarity and experience with child welfare litigation About the Washington State Office of the Attorney General The Attorney General's Office (AGO) touches the lives of every resident in this state.
