Position Summary
The Religious Studies Program at theUniversity of New Mexico (UNM) anticipates hiring Adjunct Faculty to teach undergraduatelevel courses in the Fall 2023, Spring 2024 and Summer 2024 Semesters.
Anticipated openings will be for Adjunctswho can teach courses in a broad range of subject areas, including but notlimited to the subject areas covered in the following UNM course:
  • RELG 1110: Introduction to World Religions

Please consult the UNM Catalog fordescriptions of the course.
The Religious Studies Program isseeking qualified temporary part time faculty members to teach undergraduateand/or graduate level classes in various disciplines as specified above.Instructors are responsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching.Responsibilities will include but not be limited to meeting with the classduring assigned times, delivering the course curriculum, developing and gradingassignments, reporting grades, and assessing student learning outcomes asoutlined by the Director of the Program.
Positions are contingent upon needeach semester as determined by student enrollment levels, courses on thecurrent course schedule, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may be filled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline forstudents to drop or add courses. Candidates who are selected for thesepositions will report to the Director of the Program.

For best consideration, please applyby the following dates:
Fall 2023 semester - April 30, 2023
Spring 2024 semester - November 15,2023
Summer 2024 semester - March 15, 2024
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
To teach courses as described above are determined by Higher Learning Commission's accreditation requirements for faculty, and must be met by one of these ways:
1. Master's Degree or higher in Religious Studies or subfield for which you are applying;
Or
Master's degree or higher in a field other than Religious Studies that is related to the position for which you are applying;
Or
Successful completion of at least 18 graduate credit hours in an accredited program in the discipline or subfield for which you are applying (i.e. BA or BS degree for example).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years professional experience in the specialization or subfield
- An earned doctorate from an accredited institution
3. - Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution
4. - Successful experience teaching courses using a variety of teaching modalities (such as Face-to-Face, Remote, and Fully Online)
5. - A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities
