What is a part time real estate agent?

A Part Time Real Estate Agent is a licensed professional who helps clients buy, sell, or rent properties while working fewer hours than a full-time agent. They typically maintain flexible schedules, often working evenings or weekends to accommodate clients. Many part-time agents balance real estate work with another job or personal commitments. Despite working fewer hours, they must still meet licensing requirements and stay informed about market trends. This role can be a good entry point into the real estate industry or a way to earn supplemental income.

What does a part time real estate agent do?

Part-time real estate agents are agents that spend less than 40 hours per week buying and selling residential and commercial property. As a part-time professional in the field, you may not make as much of a salary as full-time real estate agents, but your schedule is much more flexible. Part-time realtors work alongside buyers, homeowners, brokers, and other clients to facilitate the exchange of physical property. Your duties can include sales, open houses, online marketing, and cold calling. With the proper qualifications, a part-time real estate agent can work anywhere from 21 to 39 hours each week.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a part time real estate agent?

To thrive as a Part Time Real Estate Agent, you typically need a real estate license, strong local market knowledge, and basic sales skills. Familiarity with Multiple Listing Services (MLS), customer relationship management (CRM) software, and digital marketing platforms is important. Excellent communication, time management, and networking abilities help agents build relationships and manage flexible schedules. These skills and tools are crucial for effectively matching clients with properties, closing deals, and growing a client base while balancing part-time hours.

How do part time real estate agents typically balance their schedules and client needs?

Part-time real estate agents often need to be highly organized and flexible to successfully manage their time between other commitments and serving clients. Many choose to focus on evenings and weekends, when clients are most available for showings and consultations. Communication and time management skills are crucial, as agents must coordinate with clients, lenders, and other agents to keep transactions moving smoothly. It's common for part-time agents to use scheduling apps and set clear expectations with their clients about their availability. Collaborating with a supportive brokerage or team can also help distribute workload and ensure clients always have access to assistance.

Both roles require a real estate license, but the commitment level and earning potential differ significantly.

Can you side hustle as a part time real estate agent?

Part time real estate agents can often pursue side hustles, as the role typically offers flexible hours and commission-based income. However, they must ensure their side activities do not conflict with their real estate licensing requirements or agency policies.

How much can you earn as a part-time real estate agent?

Part-time real estate agents typically earn between $20,000 and $50,000 annually, depending on factors such as location, experience, and the number of transactions completed. Earnings are commission-based, often ranging from 2% to 3% of the property sale price, and may require flexible scheduling and client management skills.

Is it worth it to be a part time real estate agent?

Part time real estate agents can earn income through commissions on property sales, but earnings depend on market conditions, effort, and experience. This role often requires flexible scheduling, strong sales skills, and licensing, making it suitable for those balancing other commitments. However, income may be inconsistent compared to full-time agents, and success depends on individual effort and local market activity.

Job description

Description
Part-Time Real Estate Client Relationship Coordinator
The Charles Nedder Team | Greenwich, CT | In-Office
Part-Time | Base Pay + Bonus for Each Closing
Love Real Estate and People-But Don't Want to Spend Your Nights and Weekends Showing Houses?
The Charles Nedder Team is looking for a friendly, personable, and organized Real Estate Client Relationship Coordinator to join our Greenwich office on a part-time basis.
This is not a cold-calling position. It's a helping-people position. You'll be talking with past clients, current customers, and buyers and sellers who have already connected with our team. Many have previously spoken with one of our agents, toured properties, requested information, or scheduled an appointment.
Your role is to make sure these relationships don't get lost in the shuffle. You'll check in, find out how they're doing, help them reconnect with their agent, share new properties that closely match what they're looking for, and schedule or rebook appointments when they're ready to take the next step.
If you're a local real estate professional who loves the business and enjoys people but doesn't want to spend your evenings and weekends driving around showing houses, this could be a great fit.
What You'll Be Doing
Most of your day will be spent having helpful conversations with people who already know or have connected with our team.
You'll:
  • Reconnect with past clients and existing customers
  • Follow up with buyers who have previously spoken with or met one of our agents
  • Help clients re-book appointments when their plans or schedules change
  • Reach out when a new property comes on the market that closely matches a buyer's criteria
  • Let buyers know about relevant price changes and new opportunities
  • Check in with clients who weren't quite ready to move several weeks or months ago
  • Find out if a client's needs, timing, price range, or preferred location have changed
  • Schedule buyer consultations, property appointments, and seller consultations with our agents
  • Follow up after appointments and showings to make sure clients receive the help they need
  • Keep client preferences, conversations, and next steps organized in our CRM
  • Work closely with our agents so they know when a client is ready for personal attention
  • Help make sure every client receives consistent, thoughtful follow-up

The goal isn't to pressure anyone into buying or selling.
It's to be helpful, stay connected, and make it easy for clients to take the next step when they're ready.
What This Job Is NOT
  • No cold calling strangers.
  • No door knocking.
  • No driving buyers from house to house.
  • No need to build your own book of business.
  • No commission-only uncertainty.

We're providing the relationships, clients, technology, systems, and opportunities.
You provide the personality, professionalism, and follow-through.
Who We're Looking For
This could be an ideal opportunity for someone who already has a Connecticut real estate license and wants to remain active in the real estate business without taking on the traditional lifestyle of a full-time sales agent.
You may be a great fit if you:
  • Genuinely enjoy talking with people
  • Are naturally friendly, upbeat, and helpful
  • Have a Connecticut real estate license
  • Enjoy real estate and following the local housing market
  • Know Greenwich and the surrounding Fairfield County communities
  • Are comfortable talking with clients by phone, text, and email
  • Enjoy building relationships rather than making high-pressure sales calls
  • Are organized and good at remembering details
  • Have strong follow-up habits
  • Are comfortable using-or learning-a CRM and modern AI tools
  • Want a predictable part-time position while staying involved in real estate
  • Enjoy being around other people and working as part of a team

Real estate experience is helpful, but personality and attitude are extremely important.
We're looking for someone clients will genuinely enjoy hearing from.
A Great Alternative to Traditional Real Estate Sales
Maybe you earned your real estate license because you love homes, people, and the real estate business-but discovered that you don't love chasing leads, working every weekend, or spending hours driving buyers to showings. You shouldn't have to leave real estate because you don't want to be a traditional salesperson. This position allows you to use your real estate knowledge and people skills while enjoying the stability of a part-time office position.
Compensation
We offer dependable base compensation plus a bonus for each successful closing generated from the clients you help nurture.
That gives you the stability of regular income while still allowing you to participate financially in the team's success.
Help more people → create more opportunities → earn more bonuses.
A Fun, Professional Greenwich Office
Real estate is a people business, and we believe the office should feel that way too.
You'll work alongside an energetic group of real estate professionals in our Greenwich office where people collaborate, share ideas, celebrate closings, and help one another succeed.
You'll also have access to:
  • Established buyers, sellers, past clients, and customer relationships
  • Modern real estate technology and AI tools
  • Follow Up Boss CRM and automated client follow-up systems
  • Training and coaching
  • Experienced agents and team leadership
  • Administrative and transaction support
  • A recognized real estate brand through Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties
  • Opportunities to learn and grow within the real estate industry
Real Estate Without the Traditional Agent Lifestyle
This position offers something a little different:
Stay in real estate.
Help people.
Work part-time.
Earn dependable base compensation.
Receive bonuses when clients close.
And let our agents do the showings.
If you're a local licensed real estate professional who enjoys people and would like to be part of a successful, fun, and professional Greenwich real estate office, we'd love to meet you.
Apply today to start a conversation with The Charles Nedder Team.
