Location:
Woodlands Cancer Institute
Pay Range:
$17.93 - $29.89
This position will support Woodlands Cancer Institute in The Woodlands and Conroe TX. It is a Part Time role (includes benefits) - on Mon, Tues and Thurs 8A-5P.
Position Summary
Healthcare professionals responsible for laboratory testing, quality control, phlebotomy, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Perform manual and automated routine blood tests. Prepare specimens for microscope examination. Operate laboratory equipment including centrifuges, hematology analyzers, and point of care analyzers.
Key Performance Areas
KPA 1 - Specimen collection and testing
  • Collect and analyze body fluids such as urine and blood.
  • Perform proper quality control procedures before proceeding with patient testing.
  • Perform routine clinical laboratory tests.
  • Perform technical laboratory procedures with accuracy and precision, meeting the standard of all accreditation/regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure adherence to correct testing policies, procedures, and quality assurance.

KPA 2 - Equipment maintenance and supplies
  • Set up, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure efficient performance
  • Maintain cleanliness of the laboratory.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of laboratory supplies. Place order with purchasing as needed

KPA 3 - Compliance
  • Comply with established safety guidelines.
  • Comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to patient care, patient's rights, safety, billing, and collections.
  • Adhere to all Company and departmental policies and procedures, including Disaster Recovery Plan and IT policies and procedures.
  • Complete all duties required to keep laboratory in compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies. Must be able to perform compliance testing.
  • Comply with protecting patient privacy.

KPA 4 - Documentation
  • Maintain all logs as required.
  • Initiate troubleshooting procedures when instrument malfunction occurs and contact instrument service company, if necessary.
  • Submit monthly paperwork to consultant.

KPA 5 -Other duties
  • Performs other duties and projects are assigned.

High School education, required
Previous Experience
Minimum of two years' experience in a lab setting, required
