Job description

Job Title

Oversee all aspects of our product quality program including promoting health & safety as our #1 core value, innovative solutions for customers, mix optimization, and employee development.

Responsibilities

  • Health and Safety: Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas. Ensures all aspects of his/her role are executed in a safe manner. Obeys safety guidelines when on public roads, construction sites and 3D Concrete operations.
  • Value Added Products (VAP): Assist sales in promotion of proprietary products. Provide technical expertise to sales and operations.
  • Quality Control and Quality Assurance (Concrete): Responsible for the design and performance of all concrete mixes. Ensure through plant sampling of aggregates, cement and other materials that meet established standards. Manage Command QC software working with Concrete Production Manager optimizing materials and training personnel. Manage existing and future Quality Control and Process Control Programs. Communicate quality control information to all relevant organizational departments. Monitor benchmark and target improvement in quality KPI's. Develop and participate in cost control improvements.
  • Materials and Specifications: Ensure that all plants have appropriate mix designs and determine appropriate batch weight for all mixes at each plant.
  • Detailed product investigation in relationship to quality and potential claims. Researching questionable product from time batched, to tie discharged, and on-site investigation to evaluate site conditions and product behavior. Direct contact with client covering potential solutions and involved in any evaluation testing to assure all procedures are performed in accordance with specific testing guidelines.
  • In-house investigations involving product consistency, neglect, abuse, and applications at batch plants and on site. Along with follow up visits to assess product appearance, durability, and analysis to remedy day to day problems.
  • Quality Control and Quality Assurance (Aggregate): Gradations physically performed twice daily on all washed aggregates, once a day for Flex Base. Specific Gravity and Absorption performed daily. LA Abrasion and Soundness testing performed monthly with the Soundness testing performed by outside testing. All results are monitored daily with any irregularities reported to plant manager. A weekly and monthly technical report is distributed to company personnel alongside a product stockpile map.
  • Instruct in-house lab personnel on proper testing techniques and procedures. Work with loader operators on proper load out, stockpile, and sampling techniques. QC Manager to have working knowledge with hands on experience in all procedures related to products produced (TX DOT, ASTM, etc.). Continued education in all new and revised procedures with hands on experience.
  • HR/Coaching and Mentoring: Select, hire, and train technicians when required. Manage all daily field and lab QC technicians and activities. Provide product quality training for sales, operations, and hourly employees.
  • Association Involvement: Participate in industry associations as a representative of Centex Materials.

Relationship with Team

  • Reports to the SVP Operations
  • Work closely with the Management Team and Plant personnel

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
  • 5-10 years of related experience

  • Must have a strategic business focus and ability to anticipate future consequences and trends accurately. Proficient with Microsoft applications, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
