Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Community Engagement Coordinator exists to manage the day-to-day operations of the BMC Urology Prostate Health Mobile Van, a community-based mobile health initiative focused on prostate cancer education, screening, and early detection. Reporting to the VP of Community Engagement and External Affairs, this role coordinates closely with the Urology Department, external transportation and vendor partners, the Marketing Department, and community and civic stakeholders to ensure the mobile van program runs smoothly and reaches the communities it is designed to serve. The position operates with general supervision, exercising independent judgment in scheduling, vendor coordination, and day-to-day problem-solving, while escalating strategic or policy-level decisions to leadership. The role has no supervisory responsibility for other staff. Its work directly supports the organization's health equity goals by sustaining a visible, trusted community presence that expands access to preventive prostate health services.

Schedule: Part Time - Hybrid work environment with mandatory on-site attendance every Tuesday.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:
  • Program Operations (25%): Oversees daily operations of the Prostate Health Mobile Van program, managing van scheduling, calendar updates, and coordination of van staffing needs.

  • Community Engagement & Representation (25%): Partners with the Community Engagement and External Affairs Office to determine optimal community locations for the van, representing the program at community events, meetings, and stakeholder convenings.

  • Interdepartmental Collaboration (10%): Collaborates closely with the Urology Department and active van staff to address immediate operational needs and ensure a positive patient experience on the unit.

  • Marketing & Communications (10%): Maintains the community calendar using the Drupal content management system and collaborates with the Marketing Department and Felix agency to manage and reorder van marketing collateral.

  • Metrics & Reporting (10%): Tracks program metrics-including screenings completed, demographics served, and referral follow-through-in partnership with the Urology Department to prepare reports and dashboards for leadership and funders.

  • Logistics Liaison (5%): Serves as the primary liaison with Brewster Ambulance Services, coordinating the mobile van event calendar and ensuring drivers are scheduled and informed of all upcoming community events.

  • Vendor & Asset Management (5%): Manages vendor relationships, supplies, and equipment maintenance for the mobile unit in partnership with the Urology Department.

  • Stakeholder & Civic Coordination (5%): Coordinates with community and business partners on van scheduling and logistics, working directly with city officials to secure necessary municipal permits.

  • Quality Improvement (5%): Identifies specific opportunities for program improvement based on structured program data and direct community feedback.
  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of directly related experience or Master's degree in public health, Healthcare Administration, or related field

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
  • Requires Bachelor's degree (or equivalent combination of formal education and experience).

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 2-5 years of relevant post-collegiate professional experience required.
  • Previous project coordination also preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILTIIES:
  • Excellent verbal/written English communication skills, including excellent grammatical, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and other web-based applications.
  • Ability to produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to be socially perceptive in accepting and relaying confidential information, communicating policies and procedures, and interacting effectively with a variety of Medical Center personnel and outside personnel.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Proven ability to work with confidential information.

Compensation Range:
$21.39- $30.05
This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
