Job description

Program Description: The Transitional Living Program (TLP) is a voluntary residential program serving young people ages 16-21 who are experiencing homelessness or are at imminent risk of homelessness. The TLP can house up to 6 youth. The goal of the program is to promote independence, self-sufficiency, and empowerment. To achieve this, youth in the program are required to participate in five program domains: therapy, case management, life skills training, employment, and volunteer. Residents may live at the TLP for up to 18 months, depending on age, their individual discharge plan, and their participation within the program. All participants receive aftercare supports upon exit. The TLP is open 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. The TLP is the only program of its kind in Macomb County.

Position Description: Transitional Living Specialists (TLS') provide trauma informed care, supervision, and guidance to up to 6 residential youth. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) facilitating life skill trainings, maintaining client logbooks, answering crisis calls & providing referrals, completing youth interviews, administering medications, maintaining a safe & clean environment, conducting bed checks, upholding household rules & structure, and assisting the Program Manager as needed. TLS' provide stability, safety, and positive connection to young people who often have complex trauma histories. TLS' are integral in achieving our mission of providing hope and healing.

Availability: Part time (24 hours / week). The TLP is open 24 hours per day, 365 days per year and; therefore, requires daily staffing, including weekends and holidays. Employees work a flexible schedule, which includes a mix of weekday and weekend shifts from 8am-4pm, 4pm-12am, and 12am-8am. Preference is given to candidates who have availability on weekends and afternoons. Employees complete an availability form by the 15th of each month and the schedule will be posted for the full month by the 25th. This works well with planning around school and other commitments.

Wages: $15.00 / hour, Time and half for holidays, and shift differential hours for weekends and midnights (bonus hour per 8-hour shift). Opportunities for raises and bonuses are evaluated yearly, though not guaranteed.

Benefits: 403b Retirement Plan with 10% matching, earned PTO monthly, and
Employment assistance program,

including therapy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • 2 years of experience working with youth / adolescents
  • Ability to pass Criminal and Central Registry Clearance (child abuse and neglect) background checks
  • Proof of a negative TB test
  • Valid driver's license / state ID

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in a human services field such as: Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or Mental Health
  • Ability to work weekends and evenings
