Job Summary
The PACE Team in the Rackham Graduate School seeks the support of a part-time temporary Program Assistant to provide assistance with program planning, execution and reporting across several PACE Team areas, including the Rackham Merit Fellowship Program, the Bridges to the Doctorate Program, and the Institutional Partnership Initiative.
Spring/Summer support will focus on planning a one-week orientation program (RMF Connections) for incoming Rackham Merit Fellows and Bridge to the Doctorate students.
This position will start in Fall 2026, with opportunities for extension through the Winter/Spring/Summer 2027 semesters, based equit and successful performance.
PLEASE NOTE: Some late-afternoon and early-evening work may be required; possible weekend work may also be required with advance notice. Schedule varies based on the needs of the program.
Responsibilities*
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with the PACE programming team to design and implement programming for Rackham Merit Fellows and Bridge to the Doctorate students and providing support for Institutional Partnership events for campus staff and faculty.
Focused support for the planning and implementation of RMF Connections includes managing student communications and registrations; creating and maintaining a Canvas page and student directory; developing community-building programming; and managing volunteer engagement.
Additional duties include but are not limited to, attending weekly team meetings; drafting documents and program materials; assisting with the development of program evaluation tools; generating summary reports.
Required Qualifications*
  • Graduate experience at the University of Michigan is required; more than one year is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience with student orientation programs and student support programming
  • Experience with delivering programming in hybrid formats, including familiarity with Canvas, Zoom, or other virtual platforms
  • Ability to work as part of a team and capacity to work independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to maintain confidentiality in matters of a sensitive and confidential nature
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of productivity tools including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation and electronic communication, social media, and calendaring software packages (Google, Microsoft, etc.)

Desired Qualifications*
  • Previous experience in the Rackham Merit Fellowship program
  • Reasonable knowledge of University and departmental policies and procedures, University organization, and University protocol
  • Research and scholarly interest in graduate student development and programming
