Description
The Visser Family YMCA's Impact After School Program is an exciting and unique partnership between the Y, Grandville, Jenison and Hudsonville Public School systems, and corporate and foundation donors.
In our Impact After School Program, youth are cultivating the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement. Every day students come to a safe and engaging environment at the Y and have access to tutoring and homework assistance, health and fitness activities, mentoring, a healthy meal, and so much more.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Impact Assistant Teacher will assist in the planning, developing, and implementing of classroom activities for programs. This position requires availability, Monday through Thursday from 2:00 - 6:30 PM.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assists Site Coordinator/Supervisor in developing and leading daily lesson plans
  • Actively engages with children in the classroom
  • Maintains supervision of children
  • Assists Site Supervisor with parent communication as needed
  • Efficiently communicates with classroom teaching team

Performs any other functions deemed to be necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Association
COMPENSATION
$15.21 - $19.01 ; Part Time; Non Exempt (up to 25 hours/ week)

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Three to six months middle school age youth development related experience preferred; Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles. Working knowledge of computers and experience with a variety of software applications. Excellent verbal and written communication skills preferred in both English and Spanish.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
  • Blood Borne Pathogen training
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification required within the first 60 days
  • First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days
  • AED-Oxygen Certification required within the first 60 days
  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT)
