Part-Time Parts Advisor / Shipping & Receiving Clerk
Ramsey Subaru of Urbandale is looking for a dependable and customer-focused Part-Time Parts Advisor / Shipping & Receiving Clerk to join our team. This hybrid role supports both the front counter parts experience and the daily operations of shipping, receiving, and inventory control. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, values teamwork, and takes pride in providing outstanding service to both internal and external customers.
This position is responsible for assisting customers with their automotive parts needs while also handling shipping, receiving, inventory organization, and delivery support. You will play a key role in maintaining an accurate parts inventory and ensuring efficient parts operations across the dealership.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Parts Sales
  • Provide a friendly, professional greeting and assist customers with parts inquiries, orders, and purchases
  • Answer phones and communicate effectively with customers and vendors via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Check stock availability, identify correct parts, and fulfill orders quickly and accurately.
  • Coordinate with the service department to support vehicle repair and maintenance needs.
  • Process invoices, payments, returns, and warranties accurately.

Shipping, Receiving & Inventory
  • Receive, unpack, inspect, and store incoming parts shipments in proper locations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory through binning, stocking, and perpetual inventory tracking.
  • Assist with routine audits and annual physical inventories.
  • Maintain special order parts and ensure proper organization of bins and shelves.
  • Notify management of any damaged goods or discrepancies.

Logistics & Operational Support
  • Prepare, pull, and deliver parts to technicians and customers as needed.
  • Support delivery operations including maintaining delivery schedules and logs.
  • Help keep the parts department clean, organized, and professional in appearance.
  • Follow safety guidelines and maintain a clean delivery vehicle when applicable.
  • Complete required training and assist with additional duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilitie.
  • Ability to multitask and work with a sense of urgency.
  • Basic math skills for invoicing, inventory, and transactions.
  • Automotive parts knowledge preferred
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, and handling of parts and materials
