Job description

Location: Heritage Valley Ambulatory Surgery Center, 79 Wagner Road, Monaca, PA 15061
Work Hours: PRN, Monday thru Friday, daylight

Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and according to established nursing standards and surgery center policies and procedures, the pre-operative/recovery room nurse provides comprehensive, compassionate, and state-of-the-art care to all patients.  This standard continues from admission through our 24-hour follow-up phone call.

REQUIRED

Graduate of an accredited professional school of nursing, current Pennsylvania licensure; 1-2 years Recovery Room, Pre-Operative experience; BLS, ACLS, PALS

1. Analytical ability necessary to make sure that procedures/operations are completed ensuring maximum nursing care/support is rendered to the patient, the operating room staff, anesthesia staff and the surgeons always.
2. The interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with patients/families, surgeons and to cooperate with the other nurses and administration in the delivery of patient care.
3. Emotional/mental ability to perform effectively and efficiently under daily pressure of stressful or emergency situations.
4. Physical ability necessary for almost constant standing, walking, and lifting. A high level of stamina also necessary for the frequent transportation of patients and the carrying of supplies and equipment.
