Applicants should clearly indicate their qualifications to teach one or more of the following classes: Science in Today’s World, Anatomy & Physiology I, Anatomy and Physiology II, Microbiology, General Chemistry, Physics, and/or Astronomy.

Reporting to the Department Chair for General Education and Social Sciences, part-time faculty are assigned to course sections based on their qualifications, interest, performance, and course section availability.

This is a remote online part-time faculty position. Instructional faculty at Excelsior University teach online using pre-built course shells with common readings, activities, and assignments across all sections.

Faculty Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implementing courses as designed by the University, including the completion of weekly tasks on a university-supplied checklist.

  • Providing timely, high-quality feedback on student work.
  • Holding regular virtual office hours.
  • Keeping the department chair apprised of any student or course issues.
  • Following University policies.
  • Completing University-required training and attending required pre-term meetings.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • Experience teaching in an asynchronous online environment.

  • A student-centered teaching approach.
  • A commitment to supporting the success of all students, including those under-served by traditional higher education.

Rate of Pay:

  1. A flat rate of $1000 per credit for a section of at least 10 undergraduate students or 8 graduate students. Courses that fall under these student headcounts are considered low enrolled courses.
  2. Low enrolled courses will be paid on a directed study rate ($250/student for undergraduate courses and $300/student for graduate courses) based on the number of students enrolled in the course section at the close of late registration.
