PART-TIME BOX OFFICE ASSOCIATE - TEMPORARY

PARK AVENUE ARMORY

Part American palace, part industrial shed, Park Avenue Armory is dedicated to supporting unconventional works in the visual and performing arts that need non-traditional spaces for their full realization, enabling artists to create, students to explore and, audiences to experience epic and adventurous presentations that cannot be mounted elsewhere in New York City. POSITION DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Box Office Manager, Box Office Associates sell tickets in-person and over the phone through Tessitura for more than 20+ Park Avenue Armory productions and events a year. The Box Office Associate also serves as an ambassador for Park Armory by answering questions regarding past and future Armory productions, as well as providing exceptional customer service for all inquiries. The Associate must be an excellent communicator and an enthusiastic team player who takes initiative and excels in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Due to the nature of this role, this is a fully on-site position, requiring regular evening and weekend availability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sell individual tickets, subscription packages, and memberships in person and over the phone using the Tessitura ticketing system
  • Deliver an exceptional guest experience by welcoming patrons to the Armory in a warm, professional, and engaging manner
  • Serve as a knowledgeable ambassador for the Armory by communicating information about past, current, and upcoming exhibitions, performances, and public programs
  • Accurately process cash, credit card, and other payment transactions, and reconcile receipts at the end of each shift
  • Coordinate will-call ticket distribution and assist patrons with ticket reprinting and troubleshooting
  • Respond promptly and professionally to ticket buyers' inquiries, concerns, and feedback via phone, email, and in person, resolving issues with a customer-first approach
  • Assist in managing standby line for tickets to sold-out productions
  • Promote Armory membership by engaging patrons in conversations about membership opportunities, benefits, and exclusive offerings
  • Process new memberships, renewals, ticket exchanges, and refunds accurately and in accordance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Box Office policies, procedures, pricing, promotions, and ticketing best practices
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to support performances, exhibitions, and special events while contributing to the smooth operation of the Box Office
  • Assist with high-volume on-sale events and performance-day operations while maintaining accuracy under pressure
  • Support accessibility and patron accommodation requests in collaboration with Front of House staff
  • Complete ticket exchanges and refunds 
  • Perform other Box Office duties as needed and assigned

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function at a professional standard.   The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. A successful candidate will meet many of these requirements and have the desire and capacity to learn the rest on the job.

  • Must have evening and weekend availability from September 8 through October 23, 2026
  • Must be available to work approximately 10-20 hours/week.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and exceptional customer service skills, with a strong interest in performing and visual arts
  • An enthusiastic attitude, with the ability to take initiative and excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and data entry experience
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Available to work a flexible schedule including late night shifts, weekends, and holidays. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ year of customer service, point of sale, and/or ticketing experience or the equivalent combination of experience sufficient to successfully perform essential functions of the job
  • Experience with the Tessitura Software is preferred, butnot required

COMPENSATION
