A Brief Overview
The Nursing Assistant (non-certified) is responsible for learning to perform basic care of patients under the general supervision of an RN in the acute hospital setting. The NA is also responsible for transporting and transferring patients within the medical complex in a safe and efficient manner. The NA will also assist with data collection to facilitate the delivery of delegated nursing care.
What you will do
  • Assists with basic care for patients in the areas of nutrition, elimination, comfort, mobility and safety.
  • Transports and transfers patients within the medical complex using appropriate equipment and utilizing safety precautions as indicated by the patient's health status.
  • Assists nursing staff in lifting and ambulating patients using appropriate practice guidelines.
  • Maintains environment and equipment and will locate and deliver appropriate equipment to Central Service and Maintenance departments.
  • Works collaboratively with the health care team members to effectively communicate and document accurate information.
  • Demonstrates dependability, organizational skills and effective use of time by setting priorities to complete delegated work within established time frames in accordance with unit guidelines.
  • Demonstrates role accountability by adhering to Tidelands Health mission statement, policies and confidentiality standards.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities to continuously improve patient care and unit operations.
  • Participates in unit staff meetings.

Education Qualifications
  • High School Diploma graduate or equivalent required with the completion of state approved course of study for Nursing Assistant training and/or documented completion of military equivalent, and/or successful completion of fundamentals semester of nursing school Required

Experience Qualifications
  • Two (2) years previous healthcare experience Preferred

Skills and Abilities
  • Requires the use of computers, EMR software
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task
  • Works with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association is required within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two years is Required
