Rapid Response Team Registered Nurse (RN) – RWJBarnabas Health

As a Registered Nurse (RN), a typical day may include:  

  • As a member of the Rapid Response Team RRT the RRT Nurse will focus on specific situations in non-critical care areas.
  • The RRT nurse will assist the staff member in assessing and stabilizing the patient's condition, as well as organizing information to be communicated to the patient's physician.
  • The RRT nurse will be responsible for data and reports.
  • The RRT nurses collectively will serve as educators over the medical surgical units as determined by director
  • Other responsibilities of the RRT nurse are to serve as a resource to staff, coordinate annual and ongoing competencies, assist with code SMARTs code Strokes, and code Blues when available.
  • Deliver direct patient care across assigned critical care and intermediate care units based on daily staffing needs
  • The RRT nurses are responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments damaged floors walls ceiling tiles unsecured areas and medical errors etc,
  • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, patients and families
  • Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognizing subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
  • Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands-on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
  • Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
  • Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
  • Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
  • Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care
  • Taking an active role in a highly collaborative team environment where shared accountability and teamwork directly impact outcomes
  • Pursuing continued professional growth through access to continuing education, clinical ladder opportunities, and organizational resources that support long-term career progression

  • To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification upon hire and ACLS must be completed within 120 days of hire and CCRN preferred. An Associate Science in Nursing degree is required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. A minimum 2 years’ experience in Critical Care Nursing, ICU or ED is highly preferred. Must be comfortable with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. Part-time night shift 7p-7:30a. Monday – Friday, every other weekend and holiday rotation allows you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
