A career within a Medicine Unit provides the opportunity to care for patients diagnosed with a variety of medical concerns. While these versatile careers can be challenging, nurses in this specialty have extensive knowledge and expertise in the nursing field, making them natural leaders on any healthcare team! The Medicine units at Baystate Health are highly specialized and will be the foundation of a successful nursing career.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:

  • Daly 6A is an ACE unit, Acute Care for Elders and we promote Aging in Place, which is the golden standard for elder care.
  • This unit provides care for the older adult patient population with 39 beds, 16 semi- private rooms, and 5 rooms for end-of-life care.
  • This unit offers an ACE room which promotes socialization and has activities for our patients such as movies, games, arts and crafts books.
  • The unit has pet therapy, and our friends Milo and Marlene visit once a month. The unit also participates in fun engagement activities such as cookie decorating, reverse trunk or treat, pumpkin painting etc.
  • This is an engaged unit with a supportive management team. The team also includes a geriatrician, physical therapist, case manager, NICHE program coordinator, geriatric resource nurses, and spiritual services.

SCHEDULE:

  • Part Time Nights 7 PM- 7AM
  • Every other weekend and rotating holidays
  • Location: Baystate Medical Center Springfield

Pay:

  • New Grad RN (0-1 year of RN Licensure) $41.00
  • Experienced RN (1+ years of RN Licensure) $42.66-$65.00

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successfully passed Board of Registration in Nursing Examination and is licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification required.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year RN experience required.
  • Education: AND required; BSN preferred.
