Position Summary
Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired on an as-needed basis to support workforce and skills training initiatives. The adjunct instructor will create an engaging learning environment that supports adult learners in developing practical digital and productivity skills.
This role focuses on delivering non-credit training in Microsoft Office 365 applications, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Excel, while also integrating other productivity tools and emerging technologies such as Microsoft Copilot. The instructor will support workforce development by helping individuals and employer partners build skills in data analysis, communication, collaboration, and AI-enhanced productivity.
Major Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality instruction in Microsoft Office 365 applications, with a primary focus on Excel
  • Facilitate student learning through hands-on exercises, real-world scenarios, and applied projects
  • Integrate AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot into instruction to enhance productivity and efficiency
  • Provide course outlines and instructional materials aligned with workforce training objectives
  • Maintain accurate attendance, progress tracking, and completion records
  • Submit required documentation within established timelines
  • Be available to support students with questions and skill development outside of scheduled instruction
  • Address student concerns and collaborate with program staff as needed
  • Meet all scheduled training sessions as assigned
  • Utilize instructional technologies (e.g., Canvas, PowerPoint, Teams) as appropriate
  • Notify appropriate personnel in the event of absence
  • Promote a respectful and inclusive learning environment

Workforce Office 365 / Excel Training Responsibilities
  • Deliver non-credit courses such as:
    • Microsoft Excel (beginner to advanced)
    • Data analysis and reporting in Excel
    • Formulas and functions (e.g., XLOOKUP, PivotTables, IF statements)
    • Data visualization, dashboards, and reporting automation
    • Microsoft Word for business documents and formatting
    • Microsoft Outlook for email and calendar management
    • Microsoft Teams for communication and collaboration
    • Microsoft PowerPoint for professional presentations
    • Microsoft OneDrive and SharePoint for file management and collaboration
    • Introduction to Microsoft Copilot across Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Teach practical applications of Copilot, including:
    • Generating reports, summaries, and email drafts
    • Assisting with data analysis and formula generation in Excel
    • Creating presentations and documents more efficiently
    • Enhancing meeting productivity through summaries and action items
  • Develop hands-on lab activities using real-world business scenarios

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to effectively teach adult learners in a hands-on or applied learning environment
  • Associate's degree or higher in business, information technology, or a related field OR equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience using Microsoft Office 365 applications in a business setting
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, data analysis tools, and reporting features
  • Working knowledge of additional Office 365 applications (Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot or similar AI productivity tools

Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification (Excel, Office 365, or Expert level)
  • Experience teaching or delivering workforce or corporate training
  • Experience with advanced Excel tools (e.g., Power Query, Power Pivot, macros/VBA)
  • Experience using or teaching Microsoft Copilot in a professional or training setting
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI)

Work Environment
Part-time position. Instruction may occur during daytime, evening, or weekend hours based on program and employer needs. Travel within the local service area may be required.
